One way hire from Sowerby Bridge/Barnoldswick, North England

Typically, when hiring a boat you will cruise what is called an ‘out-and-back’ route; starting your cruise at one location and halfway through your holiday, turning the boat around to finish back where you started. Whilst you do see the canal differently on the return back to your start location, a one-way route means you will consistently experience new aspects of the waterways as you cruise from one location to another.

Our boatyard in Northern England conveniently has two bases, which allows it to put on a series of one-way routes throughout the year! The one way routes can be completed in a week or two and your start location will be either at Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire or Barnoldswick, Lancashire. The routes have a huge variety of scenery, from remote countryside on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, to lively city centres. Crews booking for a week should travel via Leeds on the whilst those cruising a fortnight can choose to go via either Leeds or Manchester.

Both routes require active crews with experience of locks, all of whom are keen to do the journey and put in the boating hours – about 8 hours a day for the weekly trips. Finally, transfers will be arranged upon your arrival to return you to your car following your one way adventure!
